Overview

Directing and delegating employees in the Shipping Department to ensure all safety, quality, and production goals are met.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Shipping department daily for safety, quality, service, and scrap/rework concerns. Involve any necessary employees/departments to address issues immediately.
  • Read, understand, and assist with the completion of various paperwork and reports to determine the Shipping department production requirements for the day. Oversee preparation of materials and schedules.
  • Conduct department meetings when the supervisor is unavailable.
  • Prioritize work on the floor to meet production needs.
  • Move and reassign employees within the department to fulfill production requirements.
  • Arrange for repair and maintenance of machinery in the department.
  • Work with supervisor to identify potential problems with production due to materials or staffing concerns and establish and help implement plans for improvement.
  • Work with supervisor to identify potential problems with layout and equipment. Establish and help implement plans for improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and scheduling accuracy.
  • Assure rejected product gets repaired/replaced in a timely manner.
  • Keeps work area clean and neat.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understand and train on all positions within the Shipping Department.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two to three years of previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, walk, stand, reach and bend in both office and manufacturing facility.
