Overview

The Sales Representative is responsible for generating revenue through the identification, development, and closure of new business opportunities while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing customers. A key priority for this role is the consistent achievement of sales targets set by the organization. The Sales Representative actively engages with clients, promotes the company's brand and products, and introduces solutions and contracts that meet customer requirements. Throughout the sales cycle, the representative follows up to ensure orders are secured, sales goals are met, customer concerns are addressed, and business objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently meet or exceed assigned sales targets and quotas through proactive business development and client engagement.
  • Initiate and maintain daily communication with customers, including telephone calls, in-person visits, and CRM-based interactions, to understand their needs and present solutions that align with the organization’s offerings.
  • Ensure that all CRM records are accurately maintained and kept up to date, reflecting current customer interactions, opportunities, and account status.
  • Make in-person visits and deliver presentations to both existing and prospective customers within the designated territory, with the flexibility to freelance into non-protected territories when required.
  • Develop building layouts and unit mixes when applicable to customer requirements, effectively utilizing the organization's estimating procedures to provide tailored proposals.
  • Create and deliver clear and effective written proposals and quotations using established company procedures and guidelines.
  • Negotiate contracts that fulfill customer requirements and maximize organizational value.
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics, and other cross-functional teams to optimize customer service and business outcomes.
  • Identify and communicate product/service advantages, comparing with competitor offerings to effectively position the organization's solutions.
  • Provide oral and written updates to management on customer interactions, issues, interests, competitive activities, and opportunities for new products and services.
  • Participate in trade shows and conventions to represent the organization, promote its brand, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Follow up with both new and existing customers throughout the entire sales cycle to ensure orders are procured and customer relationships are maintained.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and collaborating with colleagues for shared success.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
  • Education: High school diploma required. A college degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Three to five years of previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in sales, with preference given to candidates with experience in the self-storage business or closely related industries.
  • Communication Skills: Must possess excellent communication abilities, both verbally and in writing, for professional interaction with customers and team members.
  • Travel: Overnight travel may be required up to 50% of the time. A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills required, including experience with Outlook email, Word, Excel, and CRM programs. Must be comfortable preparing proposals, managing customer data, and communicating digitally.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, with minimal supervision. Must demonstrate initiative, accountability, and collaboration.
