Overview

This role leads the company’s entry into a rapidly growing market segment, focused on supplying metal building components for data center construction and critical infrastructure. The position is responsible for shaping strategy and driving growth in a sector that demands modular and custom structural solutions tailored to the unique requirements of data center projects. The Business Development Manager will oversee development of new product offerings, expand relationships, and identify opportunities to broaden the portfolio for additional clients. This role is central to positioning the company as a trusted partner for mission-critical infrastructure and establishing a strong presence in an industry that underpins global connectivity and data storage.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and engage data center clients and integrators who require metal building components for constructing data center facilities, including modular and traditional designs.
  • Develop and execute a market entry strategy, emphasizing team-selling for new data center construction projects.
  • Expand market share by introducing innovative, custom metal components and leveraging synergies across business units.
  • Establish and own the go-to-market (GTM) strategy for metal building components, adapting offerings to meet the evolving needs of data center construction and building out the company’s value proposition.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior decision-makers at key accounts, including nurturing our existing modular data center client and onboarding new accounts
  • Serve as the central point of contact for major data center clients, ensuring continuity and maximizing account value.
  • Understand client business models and deliver tailored solutions to address the structural and operational needs of data center facilities.
  • Design and implement retention strategies based on joint value propositions and long-term partnership goals.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align strategies for new product launches.
  • Monitor performance metrics and adapt strategies to address changing customer needs and market dynamics in the data center sector.
  • Lead high-value negotiations for custom components, ensuring integrated solutions are effectively positioned and differentiated.
  • Coordinate pricing, proposal development, and contract terms to present unified, customer-centric agreements.
  • Conduct market analysis focused on opportunities and trends in the data center sector, especially those relevant to modular construction.
  • Track and report on account health, sales metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) across the data center portfolio.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and progress updates to leadership, highlighting new market developments and account wins.
  • Recommend process improvements based on account feedback and performance analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years in B2B business development, ideally in data center infrastructure, metal building components, or related technologies
  • Overnight travel required up to 50%. Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working with strategic accounts in a channel-partnered or alliance-based sales model.
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex customer relationships and contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of sales cycles and account planning for new market segments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across companies and teams.
  • CRM proficiency (Dynamics, Salesforce, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on strategic problem-solving and client success.
